Art: Pierre-Louis Pierson

I love old photos, paintings and sculptures. I find them so inspiring! Today I'd like to share with you a small selection of works of Pierre-Louis Pierson, a nineteenth-century French photographer. I love the details on the clothes worn by his models!

Pierre-Louis Pierson had already owned his own atelier in Paris at the age of 22. His atelier was specialised in retouching images using watercolours and oil paint. Pierson had the opportunity to photograph many aristocrats and artists, he was also the official photographer working for Musée du Louvre.

Which of the images do you like the most? My favourite one is probably "La Reine d'Étrurie" :-) By clicking on the titles placed under the photos you will access the corresponding page of The Metropolitan Museum of Art website.

Have a nice weekend!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Bon week-end !
The collages were created using photos available with the OASC license on the official website of The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

  4. They really do look like a work of art...I like them all. Some I like because of the extravagant costumes (or dresses that look like costumes) and some I like because I'm fascinated by the expression on their faces. Thank you for sharing:) It's really interesting! I wish I could have lived in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century, it was such an interesting period.

    1. I'm very happy that you liked my post Ivana! Yes, some of them are costumes, like the one with the stars. The lady that you can see wearing it loved to dress up for the photos! I would love to live in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century as well, it must have been such a beautiful time! Hugs!
